Maela is a native New Yorker who spends her weekends in Litchfield County, CT. Before establishing Licorice Bookshop, she produced fundraising galas and special events for notable cultural institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and Brooklyn Museum. She currently resides in Manhattan with her husband, two sons and her fox red lab, Runner.
